A healthy self-esteem is a key requirement for maximizing life. People with personality issues are often unhappy people, and unhappy people spread unhappiness everywhere they go.
Happiness begins with self-acceptance, and self-acceptance is the bedrock of self-fulfilment. If you don’t like and accept yourself unconditionally, chances are excellent you will engage in self-destructive habits that will sabotage your chances of self-actualization. This is inevitable. For instance, how many times have we heard of a superstar with millions of adoring fans who took their own life? How many times have we read the horror stories of ‘successful’ individuals who undermined their careers and destroyed their health by reckless choices and wanton addictions— which actually is a manifestation of their own self-hatred? How many times have we seen folks who seem to have it all, yet are not only unhappy but neurotically depressed? Do you need any further proof that the quality of a person’s life is tied to their self-acceptance? So take a cue! Accept yourself U-N-C-O-N-D-I-T-I-O-N-A-L-L-Y! If you don’t, it wouldn’t matter even if the whole world worships and adores you!
